From the founding of Cafe Crop to the present day, we partner with the Crown Point High School Transitions program. Our customers join us in making a difference in the lives of special needs kids.

Fiesta_083.jpegThe Crown Point High School Transitions program thanks us for being a collection point for your excess craft supplies, paper, and tools by inviting us to a breakfast or lunch each year. The thanks really goes to all of you for making this possible, and we go on your behalf. We are blessed to have very generous guests, and you are a blessing to these students. We couldn’t do this without you, so thank you!

For several years we had an annual New 2 You Garage Sale. This is the line outside as you waited to get in. You may be wondering what the connection is between our annual garage sale, and the Crown Point Transitions Program, or maybe you figured it out. Our sellers are doing some cleaning, and they’re happy to earn some money to spend at Cafe Crop. But they also don’t want any of their stuff back, so several of them instruct us to donate whatever doesn’t sell to the Crown Point Transitions Program. We cannot say it enough, we have some really generous customers, and the students appreciate what you make possible beyond words. Thank you for your compassion, and willingness to enrich the lives of these students.

The highlight of each sales year is a trip to a Railcats game in Gary. This event is made possible by your generous donations and their hard work. The Crown Point Transitions Program makes and sells greeting cards, and the money they raise funds this trip. We’re thrilled to accept an invitation to join these industrious students each year at the game, knowing full well they’d invite each of you if they could. We accept their thanks on your behalf and share pictures like this with you, along with our genuine thanks for helping us make a difference in these young lives.

Do you have donations? Get in touch with us and we will help coordinate getting it to the school.
